Kachori/Khoya Gali
Kachori/Khoya Gali there are certain streets and by lanes that one comes across when making their way through Varanasi
that appear to have an entire world resident unto themselves. Some of these lanes have over the many years of pilgrim and tourist visits somehow
managed to retain their ancient authenticity and aura, and one feels this the second they enter lanes such as the Kachori Gali,
which is one of the most popular snacking destinations in the city. Here one can have the much famed Kachori-Sabzi dish and Jalebi
native to the region, essentially a preparation of fried vegetables and bread, at a number of very old stores and street stalls,
some of which a few that have been around for generations, such as the Shree Rajbandhu, and the Blue Lassi Shop. At Godowlia Chowk
one finds a unique beverage, a milk based drink called thandai, which may contain bhang, a cannabis preparation available at
government-licensed shops. One should ask to be sure of its inclusion. Within the same vicinity are two sites for the now famous
Banarasi Paan, namely Tambul Bhandar and Keshav Paanwala, both located at Godowlia Chowk. Also in the area in the
Bansphatak Phool Mandi, a wholesale flower market. Another much talked about product in these parts are the milk products of Khoya Gali.
